After receiving the approval to raise school fees for the academic year 2014-2015, a lot of private schools in Sharjah are unhappy and are demanding for higher fees increases. Muna Sohail, Director of Sharjah Educational District, told Emirates 24|7 that many schools are not happy with the increase, Emirates 24|7 reported. “The number of private schools in Sharjah has increased noticeably in the past few years. It is almost equal to number of public schools. Currently, we have 129 public schools in the emirate, compared to 100 private schools. The private education sector is a profitable sector and this is clear from the high number of private schools.” She pointed out that 94 private schools applied for fees increase, and recently 60 were allowed to increase their fees by between 2 % to 5%.
