His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of American University of Sharjah (AUS) attended the signing ceremony of an agreement between Sir Easa Saleh Al Gurg and the university for the establishment of the Sir Easa Saleh Al Gurg Professorship in International Studies and the Sir Easa Saleh Al Gurg Young Leaders Scholarship Fund at AUS made possible as a result of a generous gift of Dhs10m by Sir Easa.
The signing ceremony, which was held on campus today, March 10, was also attended by Sheikh Khalid Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Director of the Sharjah Urban Planning Department; members of the AUS Board of Trustees; and senior AUS officials. The agreement was signed by Sir Easa Saleh Al Gurg and Dr. Thomas Hochstettler, Acting AUS Chancellor.
The board members expressed their appreciation for this initiative from a valuable friend of the university.
Dr. Hochstettler expressed his sincere gratitude to Sir Easa for this generous gift. “The endowment will offer valuable support to qualified students by providing scholarships and associating AUS with a distinguished name in the field of international relations and business,” said Dr. Hochstettler.
Dr. Nada Mourtada-Sabbah, AUS Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Affairs, expressed her gratitude for this initiative which links the university with a leading diplomatic figure. She also thanked AUS graduates Abdullah and Easa Farid Al Gurg for their continued support of the university.
