For the seventh consecutive year, INJAZ Qatar, a non-profit organization and member of Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide, will host the Mubadara Annual Young Enterprise of the Year competition on 10 and 11 May.
Mubadara 2014 is a competition for student enterprises established through Junior Achievement’s globally recognized Company Program. Ten student teams from Qatar’s independent secondary schools and five student teams from universities in Qatar were provided with the opportunity to establish and run a real business over four months with the guidance of professionals from leading businesses across Qatar.
ExxonMobil Qatar Inc. is the competition’s Platinum Sponsor. Enterprise Qatar is the Strategic Partner, and QAPCO is the Gold sponsor. Host partners for the event are Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) Student Centre and Qatar University Center for Entrepreneurship, with the line-up completed by Qatar Business Incubation Centre (QBIC) (Incubation Partner), Legacy Sports & Events (Partner) and Boeing, which is backing the forthcoming INJAZ Qatar Start-Up Program.
The Mubadara competition consists of four stages, which are judged by an esteemed panel of judges: students firstly drafted an initial Company Report detailing their business and company approach. On 10 May they will deliver their business presentations and will take part in panel interviews at the Qatar University Center for Entrepreneurship. The student teams also participated in a public student trade fair on 27 March which was hosted by Enterprise Qatar. The winners of Mubadara will receive their awards on 11 May at the HBKU Student Center.
The university-level winners and runners-up of the Best Student Company Award at Mubadara will this year be given the opportunity for their businesses to take part in the brand new INJAZ Qatar Start-Up™ Program,. As part of the program the student companies will receive a combination of seed funding and 20 hours of professional mentoring. The start-ups will also be provided with incubation over a two year period offered by Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC). INJAZ Qatar will also be helping the start-ups by inviting potential investors to attend the Mubadara 2014 business presentations, panel interviews and the awards ceremony.
