Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (Adfca) has said all meat sold in the emirate is suitable for human consumption and carries health certificates, dismissing a rumour suggesting that meat imported from Syria contains carcinogens, Gulf News has reported. Mohammad Jalal Al Raisi, Director of Communication and Community Service at Adfca said meat cannot carry carcinogens because cancer is not a contagious disease or a caused by a virus. The clarification was issued in response to a rumour spread via social media and other smartphone applications over the past few days.
