Ambulatory Healthcare Services (AHS), a part of the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), has signed a strategic agreement with oil and gas exploration and production company Occidental Petroleum Corporation (Oxy) to kick-off healthcare initiatives for young children in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The four focus areas identified for health guidance through the initiative will include the promotion of daily personal hygiene practices, providing children with the knowledge to avoid unsafe behaviors in all aspects of life, raising children’s awareness of the ill-effects of smoking, and inculcating children with appropriate eating and behavioral habits. The health initiatives were selected by AHS based on feedback gained from national surveys.
Mohamed Hawas Al Sadid, CEO, AHS, said: “We are proud to be associated with Oxy to launch this holistic project, which will include a host of measures that effectively meet the health requirements of Abu Dhabi’s growing population. We look forward to forging a long-term partnership with Oxy, a company that takes its corporate social responsibility initiatives seriously and seeks to give back to society where possible. This is our first collaboration and AHS is excited to work with children, the youngest segment of our population. We urge the meaningful participation of children, parents and the entire community to help make such significant initiatives a success.”
Glenn Vangolen, Senior Vice-President – Middle East, Oxy Oil and Gas, said: “Oxy is committed to making a positive difference in communities where we operate. In the Middle East, Oxy has been an active investor for more than four decades, and we are pleased to enter into a partnership with AHS, which is leading the effort to improve healthcare in Abu Dhabi. Through engaging and impactful campaigns on an ongoing basis, we hope to work together to raise health awareness and encourage children to adopt healthy lifestyle habits and help them grow into healthy individuals.”
As Abu Dhabi’s primary care provider, AHS is committed to making the lives of people in the emirate healthier. AHS centers aim at early detection of diseases and the timely commencement of appropriate treatment.
