During 2013, Dettol’s ‘Mission for Health’ successfully delivered interactive hygiene education to over two million families, across the Middle East.
Through a dedicated schools programme, over 330,000 students in the UAE alone received interactive education under Dettol’s ‘My Health is in my Hands’ campaign, which was launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), to teach the students the importance of effective hand-washing to combat the spread of infections.
Over 183,000 new moms in the UAE in 2013 were targeted through a dedicated new moms programme led by Dettol’s ‘Mission for Health’. The aim of the initiative was to provide new mothers with facts, figures, tips and tools that would help them make educated choices on how to protect themselves and their new-born children from germs and infections.
Dettol’s ‘Mission for Health’ also collaborated with the Ministry of Health in the UAE to educate travelers about the importance of personal hygiene to avoid the spread illness and infections during the Hajj pilgrimage. Over 10,000 travellers received key tips for staying healthy during Hajj by a team of specialized health educators.
Refik Oner, Category Director for Dettol, Reckitt Benckiser Middle East, said: “The magnificent results achieved by Dettol’s Mission for Health in 2013 give us the drive and determination to do even more next year and improve health and hygiene standards in the Middle East. Working with the Arab Hygiene Council, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Health, our objective for 2014 is to continue to build on the fundamentals of our grass-roots health and hygiene education programme, and substantially expand the reach of our new moms and school education programmes across the region. We take this opportunity to thank our partners for their dedication and continuous support in working towards a healthier Middle East.”
