Jassim Mohammed Al Awadi, Acting Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority(DHA) announced the formation of a ‘Medical Practices Committee’ that will look into the working of all non-governmental health facilities and professionals in Dubai, including all free zones but excluding Dubai Healthcare City Authority.
The eight-member committee is chaired by Dr Mamoun Al Marzouqi and the aim of the committee is to ensure high quality of health services are provided to the population of Dubai and that all facilities and professionals follow the necessary protocols and regulations to achieve this.
The committee shall regulate the practice of medical professionals in Dubai in accordance to the Executive Council Resolution No 32 of 2012 and in case of medical malpractice, the committee will impose penalties in line with the resolution.
The committee shall undertake several tasks including review of medical professional practicing rules, conditions of healthcare practitioners and facilities in Dubai etc.
Members of the committee has meet once a month and the membership is valid for one year, after which the committee will be re-formed.
