His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority inaugurated the 18th edition of the UAE International Dental Conference and Arab Dental Exhibition (AEEDC Dubai) which is held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre with the participation of a number of regional and international officials, heads of delegation, representatives from 130 countries, and more than 1400 company.
Following the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid toured the exhibition area, and explored the latest medical devices, technologies and equipments displayed by specialized companies from around the world. His Highness was delighted by hearing from the exhibitors about the latest technologies and accomplishments that the manufacturing companies had reached to in the field of dentistry.
H.E. Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Director General of Dubai Health Authority commented on the importance of this event, which has become one of the largest and most specialized conferences in dental technology at the local and international level due to its attraction of major international companies that come to AEEDC to display their latest products and share their scientific achievements in the medical field.

AEEDC Dubai 2014 features a number of intensive scientific activities which include: the GCC Preventive Dentistry Conference, AEEDC Advanced Specialty Courses, 17 specialized courses & workshops, Poster and Oral Poster Presentations, the 5th AEEDC Student Competition with the participation of 6 universities, the Global Scientific Dental Alliance Meeting, and the AEEDC Dubai Awards.
From his side, Dr. Tariq Al Khoury, Honorary Chairman of AEEDC Dubai said: “Every year the team of AEEDC Dubai does its best to achieve scientific developments in the field of dentistry, and this had been made clear in this edition of the UAE International Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition. This conference had always been a great platform for reputed speakers to share valuable and up to date knowledge and exchange information in dental specialty. The conference had proved to have a great potential in enhancing participants’ practical clinical experiences.”
AEEDC Advanced Specialty Courses will be running parallel to AEEDC’s Conference and will provide advanced and updated theoretical and methodological approaches. Courses will provide systematic and comprehensive knowledge on different current theories, enhance the practical expertise of the dental specialists, and build a knowledge platform among qualified specialists across the globe. These specialized courses will help participants gain extra CME points. This year will include topics such as Rapid Orthodontics Symposium and an Aesthetic Dentistry Session.
On the other hand, AEEDC 2014 presents the Global Scientific Dental Alliance Meeting which will take place with the participation of 22 Arab countries from the Arab Dental Federation to discuss the latest techniques and the most important topics that relate to oral health. The Conference program will include more than 110 lectures delivered by 96 speakers to cover various topics that include the diagnosis and treatment of oral cancer, updates in surgical techniques, anesthesia for special care dentistry, and several other topics.

AEEDC 2014 Exhibition features this year 19 national pavilions primarily from: Brazil, China, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Japan, Taiwan, Turkey, Korea, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Portugal, United States of America, United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
H.E. Eng. Essa Al Maidoor added: “The support presented by Dubai Health Authority regarding exhibitions & conferences hosted in Dubai will enhance the strategy of continuing medical education adopted by DHA and, which will in turn, be reflected positively on the progress of its hospitals and health centers. The Dubai Health Authority is keen to adopt innovations and introduce the latest technologies, medical equipments and health centers to improve the diagnostic and therapeutic services and reach international standards.”
Engineer Al Maidoor also noted the efforts made by DHA to keep up with international developments in the field of medicine and teeth surgery, and in terms of providing dental clinics with the latest medical equipments, and the use of digital radiography and sterilization techniques that are modern and integrated according to the highest international standards.
The city of Dubai had become known for hosting important worldwide events, scientific and medical conferences and exhibitions that confirms its position as an economic and trade hub between different countries in the world. H.E. Essa Al Maidoor noted the leadership role Dubai had reached to in organizing medical conferences in the region, which in turn had reflected greatly on all people working in the field of dentistry.
From his side Dr. Tariq Khoury added: “AEEDC Dubai always aims at reflecting the vision of the city in terms of being a global hub to enhance and encourage evidence based research and preventive sciences among others for the benefit of every member of the community and with an eventual positive outcome on the economy of the region.”
