Muscat may impose ban smoking in public places

Members of Oman’s Muscat Municipal Council are pushing for a ban on smoking in public places such as beaches, parks, and bus stations, Times of Oman has reported. “We need to take the necessary steps to reduce tobacco use,” a council member was quoted as saying by the daily. “Studies have proved that laws banning smoking in public places have had a positive impact on health,” said the member.
