The Saudi health ministry has decided to ban nurses working in government hospitals and medical centres from wearing jeans, tight clothing, jewellery and accessories, Saudi Gazette has reported. The ban was based on recommendations made by a committee formed by the ministry five years ago. The committee recommended that all clothing should comply with the Shari’ah and that nurses’ hair and heads should be well covered. There was also a ban on tight and transparent clothes and those which had photographs or any writing on them. In addition, health workers were warned not to walk inside or outside health facilities wearing delivery room scrubs.
