Oman’s health ministry has appointed 28 health safety and environment officers to ensure quick and better management of medical waste, Muscat Daily has reported. The officers will be posted at the Khoula Hospital, Al Nadah, The Royal Hospital and other hospitals across various governorates. “We have appointed qualified professionals who will ensure proper disposal of medical waste,” said the head of occupational health section in the department of environmental and occupational health at the ministry, Dr Issa Said al Shuaili. “They will supervise the medical waste management programme and conduct risk assessment. They will also check infection rate in the hospitals,” added Dr Shuaili.
