Oman’s health ministry has announced plans to set up new centres where people can get tested for HIV free of cost without having to be registered, Times of Oman has reported. There is currently one Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) Centre active in Al Khoud, and four more will start operations this year, the ministry said. The new centres will be in Quriyat, Al Amerat, Sohar and Al Buraimi, Dr Mohd Redha Moosa Al Lawati, head of national TB, AIDS and leprosy control programmes at the ministry, told the daily.
