Qatar changes national immunisation schedule

Qatar’s Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has introduced amendments to the national immunisation schedule, Gulf Times has reported. Under the new amendments, the oral polio vaccine, five-in-one vaccine (tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis – whooping cough/Hib/polio), pneumococcal 1 vaccine and rotavirus 1 vaccine, are to be given to children who are two months old Also, the oral polio vaccine, six-in-one vaccine (diphtheria/tetanus/pertussis/polio/Hib/Hepatitis B), pneumococcal 2 vaccine and rotavirus 2 vaccine have to be given to children who are four months old. Health establishments across the country that provide immunisation services have been asked to incorporate these changes in their vaccination schedules, as approved by the department of health and communicable diseases in the council, said the SCH.
