Royal Bahrain Hospital (RBH) –a 60-bed, multi-specialty based in Salmaniya, Bahrain – has officially inaugurated its state-of-the-art Mangetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Center in a ceremony held under the patronage of the Ministry of Health, represented by Dr. Aysha Bu Anq, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health. The inauguration saw the presence of many dignitaries and RBH board members, including Dr. Mohammed Sahadulla, Chairman of RBH & KIMS Group, Mr. Ahmed Jawahery, President of RBH, RBH Director of Operations Mr. Jacob Thomas, in addition to Mr. Michael Kellner, CEO of Metals Technologies, Siemens Middle East.
Located in Gulf Diabetes Specialist Center which lies adjacent to RBH, the new MRI Center features a top of the line “1.5T Siemens MAGNETOM Aera”. It provides 3D measurements and inline 3D processing as well as it serves patients with faster scans, where a full-body scan can be completed within 15 minutes. The all new “1.5T Siemens MAGNETOM Aera” also boasts a 70 cm wider bore and a shorter tunnel length to allow more ‘head out’ tests to be conducted, that reduces the feeling of claustrophobia for people whom are suffering from such a problem. Moreover, this “world champion” machine has the ability to accommodate patients who weigh up to 250 kg.
Commenting on this initiative, Mr. Ahmad Jawahery has addressed the advantages of opening the new MRI Center, describing it as a “modern and sophisticated”.
In addition he expressed his delight as a new milestone has been reached. “A major step has been taken today toward a new promising phase in the hospital’s services,” he added.
From his side, RBH Chairman Dr. Mohammed Sahadulla said, “This is a significant step forward to fulfill the hospital’s mission, in which to keep on developing and expanding its services to provide the community with the best the medical care.”
