Saudi Arabia witnesses 19% increase in AIDS cases

The Saudi Charity Association for AIDS Patients has said the kingdom has seen a marked increase in the number of HIV (AIDS) patients by 19% annually, Arab News has reported. “The association has registered 630 HIV patients this year which is a hundred percent increase over last year,” said the director of the association, Mosa Hiaza’a, noting that most of the patients were men. Currently, 2,500 patients live with their families and are in touch with the association, which provides them with services and a variety of emotional or educational programmes, he said.
