As part of the Social Development Center’s (SDC) new ‘AlAtaa’ 2014 program, the center is donating relief packages containing personal hygiene supplies, blankets and clothing to permanent patients from Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) living in the Muaither compound.
The ‘Al Ataa’ 2014 program will run for three-years and by end, the SDC aims to have helped 445 patients from all of the HMC branches.
The project began in 2011 to build a bridge between the community and permanent patients in HMC through SDC’s ‘AlAtaa’ program. It started at Al Rumailah Hospital between 2011-2012 and expanded to Hamad Medical City in 2013.
MsNawal Al Kaabi, a specialist in Social Services at the SDC said, “It is known that the general policy of a hospital is to meet the medical needs of its patients. Therefore, the Department of Community Services at the Social Development Center is striving to provide additional health support services that offer aid to underprivileged families. This falls under one of the main pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which focuses on social development.”
TheSDC has several other humanitarian and social services programs in collaboration with the Ministry of Endowment. The money raised through these programs is used to cater to the needs of those who are not able to meet their financial obligations and pay their medical bills, as well as patients with kidney failure.
