Alghanim Industries recently launched a Kuwaiti Mentoring Program, the newest addition to its talent development portfolio.
This initiative, envisioned and driven by Omar K. Alghanim, CEO – Alghanim Industries, matches 43 Kuwaiti employees with senior leaders from different Alghanim Industries’ businesses. These leaders will act as ‘mentors’, providing advice and support to help the ‘mentees’ further develop their professional and management skills.
The launch event took place at the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel on 6 May 2014, and was attended by over 80 mentors and mentees from Alghanim Industries. The evening began with an informal networking session, followed by remarks from Samir Kasem, President – Commercial and Industrial Groups, and Jim Batchler, Chief Human Resources Officer, and concluded with a dinner buffet.
Omar K. Alghanim commented: “I am personally committed to making this program a major success. The potential of Kuwait’s youth is enormous and I want Alghanim Industries to be able to tap into this critically important resource. Our Kuwaiti Mentoring Program is designed for employees who are eager to further develop the leadership skills that are necessary to fill senior management positions and take the company forward.”
Speaking at the launch event, Samir Kasem said: “Mentoring is an established business practice that can bring out the best, in our brightest and most business-oriented employees, and I encourage mentors and mentees to take full advantage of the learning you will gain through this program. I am eager to see the results of this initiative and look forward to welcoming more Kuwaitis to senior management positions in the coming years.”
The program’s mentees are also enthusiastic about the new program, seeing it as an invaluable opportunity to develop their leadership skills and connect with members of senior management.
Alghanim Industries’ subsidiary, the Talent Development Company (TDC), has since delivered a series of half-day interactive workshops to ensure that mentees and mentors are fully equipped with the tools they need to carry out their specific roles.
