The Dubai Financial General Index (DFMGI) closed 0.58 per cent lower at 4,152.39 points on Wednesday, February 19, with trading volumes falling significantly. Emaar, as the most liquid share, dipped by 0.79 per cent to AED8.77. Arabtec increased by 0.62 per cent to AED4.90. Earlier in the day, the biggest construction firm in the UAE said that its subsidiary, Emirates Falcon Electromechanical Company, has been awarded a contract to carry out mechanical, electrical and plumbing work at the Abu Dhabi Plaza development in Astana, Kazakhstan. A city within a city, the Abu Dhabi Plaza is a 500,000 square-metre mixed-used development located at the heart of the capital Astana. Approximately 674 million shares were traded, valued at AED1.7 billion.
