The National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) reports that the total number of local and international Khareef Salalah visitors recorded from June 21th to August 30th 2014 stood at 415,209 visitors, compared to 399,747 visitors recorded during the same period in 2013, representing an increase of 3.9%. The majority of Khareef Salalah visitors were Omani, representing 76.2% of total visitor numbers, while other GCC citizens represent 16.1% of the total visitor count.
Breaking down the visitor figures by geographic origin, the NCSI statistics shows that the total number of GCC visitors (including Omanis) increased over the stated period this year by 3.9% standing at 383,434 visitors, compared with 369,139 visitors over the same period in 2013. Meanwhile, the total number of visitors from other Arab non-GCC countries recorded a significant increased of 71.5%, standing at 7,129 visitors compared with 4,157 visitors recorded over the same period last year. On the other hand, the total number of visitors from Asian countries decreased by 8.9% from 24,178 visitors in 2013 to 22,021 visitors this year.
However, the total number of Khareef Salalah 2014 visitors from European countries increased by 2.1% recording 1,634 visitors in 2014, compared with 1,600 visitors last year. Also, the total number of visitors from American Continents increased by 33%, recording 556 visitors this year, compared with 418 visitors in 2013, while the total number of visitors from African countries decreased by 16.6% standing at 121 visitors in 2014 compared with 145 visitors recorded over the same period in 2013. The total number of visitors from Oceania increased by 20.2% standing at 131 visitors compared with 109 visitors over the same period last year.
The NCSI statistics shows that 115,102 visitors flew to Salalah, comprised of 99,695 via domestic flights and 15,407 via international flights, while the total number of visitors who came via ground routes stood at 300,107 visitors.
