Al Agha’s ongoing partnership with Gillette aims to provide young Saudi and Emirati talent a unique opportunity to enhance their football ability whilst motivating and educating them on grooming skills that allow them to look like a champ whilst playing like a champ in the 5-a-side team event. A total 384 teams representing 2,688 players applied to take part in Dubai, Riyadh and Jeddah, with 896 players in 128 teams qualifying and battling it out to represent their nation.
With Riyad team, Obada City, coming out on top to represent KSA against UAE winning team, Q-Town Stars, at a mega final to be played on 21 February 2014 at the Dubai Mall Ice Rink. The winner will experience a two week all inclusive training camp at the Fundación Real Madrid, part of the Real Madrid Football club, to be trained at a summer experience soccer camp under the guidance of one of the best football coaches in the world.
Mustafa Al Agha praised the Gillette academy by saying, “Every effort must be taken to ensure progression in the quality of football in Saudi Arabia. The starting point is in academies and youth development programs. Gillette should be praised for establishing an academy easily accessible for all youth to enter and showcase their skills, giving many a once in a lifetime chance to attend high quality training delivered by Real Madrid Foundation.
“The Gillette Future Champs Academy may discover the next Mostafa Al-Bassas or Omar Abdul Rahman and in the process allowing youth to better themselves and remain motivated to look their best.”
Championed by Saudi Arabia’s talented striker Mostafa Al-Bassas, and the UAE’s skillful playmaker Omar Abdul Rahman, this year’s expanded new format puts national pride at the heart of the action, pitting the best Saudi and Emirati future talent against each other in a Saudi Arabia vs. United Arabia Emirates mega final to be played in the UAE.
With training now underway for the finalists, Saudis and Emiratis are urged share their national pride by supporting their national Gulf Future Champ team.
