City Mall joined millions around the world in switching off lights for Earth Hour 2014 to illuminate a powerful message about environmental awareness and action.
Earth Hour created by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), is the largest movement for the planet in human history, spanning over 7,000 cities, in 152 countries, with a digital reach of 200 million people across the globe.
With that in mind, City Mall activated a range of energy-saving measures during Earth Hour. The City’s favorite, switched off the two side signs of its exterior facade; dimmed all its interior lighting for an entire hour starting at 8:30 pm on Saturday the 29th of March. Additionally, most of the mall’s tenants joined in the initiative and dimmed their in-store lighting during the same period.
“It’s a privilege for us to support such a powerful movement with such a simple gesture,” said Mrs. Maram Enaya, the Commercial Manager at City Mall. She also added “Earth Hour is a global philosophy we all need to adopt; as the small steps each one of us takes, can collectively make a difference.”
