If you want to enjoy an evening of family fun and games while showing your support for the environment, the Red Sea Mall is the place to be this Saturday on March 29. ALBAIK and Red Sea Mall will be celebrating Earth Hour, the annual worldwide campaign when people and cities around the world switch off their lights for one hour to create awareness on the need to save energy and prevent global warming. The event will occur from 5:00pm to 10:00pm, during which time ALBAIK and Red Sea Mall will be switching off all non-essential lights between 8:30pm and 9:30pm.

Earth Hour is, a worldwide movement for the planet, engaging a massive mainstream community on a broad range of environmental issues. It was famously started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007. Since then it has grown to engage more than 7,000 cities and towns worldwide, and the one-hour event continues to remain the key driver of the now larger movement. The event is encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol of their commitment to the planet.

In addition to ALBAIK’s annual Earth Hour lights switch-off across all its restaurants, ALBAIK and Red Sea Mall will be hosting various activities to raise kids’ awareness on the importance of preserving electricity use in the mall’s center, including an exclusive glow in the dark tunnel that educates children of the emergence and significance of electricity use, helium balloon hand printing, tea light holder making, glow in the dark basketball and running competitions, and much more.

“ALBAIK celebrates Earth Hour every year, and for 2014, we are organizing a truly special and memorable event that we hope will not only be enjoyed by kids’ and their parents, but will become a reminder to conserve the world’s energy resources by turning off non-essential lights and electrical appliances whenever they are not needed,” said Eng. Rami Abu-Ghazaleh, CEO of ALBAIK Food Systems Co. Ltd “It’s my pleasure to invite everyone to come along and join our celebrations at Red Sea Mall on Saturday.”
