KOOORA.com, the Arab world’s most popular online sports destination, scored 700 million page views in April, smashing all previous records in its 12-year history.

Sports fans are flocking to the portal in record numbers, with KOOORA.com attracting 22.8 million unique visitors in April 2014, affirming its lead as the region’s biggest sports site.

Since January, KOOORA.com has witnessed a phenomenal 25% growth in online traffic, proving more popular than many of the Middle East and North Africa’s most established news, entertainment, fashion, and classified sites.

KOOORA.com, which was established in 2002, now attracts 61% of all views to sports websites in the Middle East and North Africa, and within the GCC region its market share rose to 65%, according to Effective Measure.

Ahead of the fever pitch expected around the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, which kicks off in June, KOOORA.com is already scoring top-league visitor numbers.

“What makes KOOORA.com stand out are the core values we live by: credibility, comprehensiveness and speed of coverage. With sports fans looking for more than just the primary TV screen to follow news and live broadcasts, we promise our audience a further interactive and engaging experience,” said Ahmad Zahidah, general manager of KOOORA.com.

Top stories on the site during April included on-the-ground coverage prior to the May 1st opening of the King Abdullah Sports City (KASC), a multi-use sports arena near Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. The many exclusive stories around the event ranked among the most-read on KOOORA.com.

Visitors flocked to read KOOORA.com’s comprehensive coverage of the quarter- and semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, as well as its exclusive interview with Real Madrid star player Luka Modri?.

Other exclusive stories included an expose of rumors that German broadcaster ZDF was looking to broadcast the World Cup for free in the Arab world. KOOORA.com obtained an exclusive interview with the head of the network, revealing that the rumors – which were reported by several of the region’s best-known media outlets – were false. That story was picked up by several international news outlets, including Reuters, who gave full credit to KOOORA.com.

KOOORA.com delivers comprehensive news on international sports as well as local sports news from 21 countries. The site has special coverage of major leagues and championships, and is popular for its live score and stats center. KOOORA.com has a large network of professional reporters in 54 countries.
