In line with its year-round corporate responsibility strategy Landmark Group, the largest value retail shopping chain in Kuwait recently conducted its seventh annual blood donation campaign. Held in association with Kuwait Central Blood Bank (KCBB), the campaign is an initiative that reiterates Landmark Group’s commitment towards the Kuwaiti society. It kicked off with 100 plus employee and customer donations on 10th March 2014 at the Centrepoint store in The Avenues.
Landmark Group organizes this annual campaign for blood donation, to emphasize that blood donation is a noble humanitarian cause, contributing to saving the lives of thousands of patients who are in dire need of blood transfusions, and to show that blood donation does not cause harm to the health of the donor.
Mr. Saibal Basu, Chief Operating Officer, Landmark Group Kuwait, expressed his delight at the large number of partaking employees and customers: “We are very proud that our annual blood donation event has grown significantly over time, expanding in the number of committed donors who take just a few minutes out of their busy lives to give a lifetime to someone else. The blood donation drive is very important as they bring our employees together with our community to donate the gracious gift of life.”
Mr. Basu added that there are many health benefits from the process of donating blood. In addition to saving lives, donors receive numerous health benefits such as preventing the accumulation of toxic quantities, lowering the iron level in the body, which helps to reduce the risk of heart disease, and reducing blood pressure and blood glucose. Moreover, when donating blood new and fresh blood is formed in the donor’s body.
Staff members from all departments and branches across Kuwait were invited to participate in the blood donation drive. The campaign, which was supervised by a team of specialized doctors, generated a tremendous response from the employees.
Landmark Group strongly believes in being an integral part of the Kuwaiti society, the campaign conducted for the seventh consecutive year is a part of the Group’s continuous efforts to highlight the principles of corporate social responsibility and support patients in need.
