Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa, has enlisted the support and celebrity influence of Emirati singer and composer, Fayez Al Saeed to create added awareness of its annual charity campaign, Make a Difference this Ramadan.
The regional initiative was launched today, by way of a press conference hosted by Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, Senior Director – Property Management, Shopping Malls for Majid Al Futtaim Properties, Fayez Al Saeed, Emirati singer and Mohammed Abdullah Alhaj Al Zaroni, Manager, Red Crescent UAE, at the Sheraton Dubai Mall of the Emirates Hotel.
Now celebrating its 8th year, the Make a Difference this Ramadan campaign supports underprivileged families in the UAE and region with donated essential supplies.
“Make a Difference this Ramadan is one of Majid Al Futtaim’s most successful and sustainable community initiatives, and with each year, we are overwhelmed by the tremendous support and generosity displayed by the community and our valued retail partners,” said Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, Senior Director – Property Management, Shopping Malls for Majid Al Futtaim Properties. “Make a Difference this Ramadan has been a significant advocate of Red Crescent’s humanitarian efforts across the UAE, and with the support of talented artist Fayez Al Saeed as our campaign ambassador this year, we are optimistic that donations for this worthy cause will be greater than ever,” he added.
Fayez Al Saeed, often referred to by his fans as the ‘Ambassador of Tunes’ for his multi-talented approach to singing, songwriting and composition, has collaborated with some of the most famous celebrities in the Arab world. This Ramadan, Fayez is leveraging his regional popularity to inspire others to give by acting as a voice and campaign ambassador for Make a Difference this Ramadan.
Starting the first day of Ramadan and into Eid, the Make a Difference this Ramadan campaign will launch across Majid Al Futtaim’s 13 shopping malls across the region in five markets – making it the largest joint effort to-date. This includes its seven shopping malls in the UAE: City Centre Ajman, City Centre Deira, City Centre Fujairah, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif City Centre Sharjah, and My City Centre Nasseriya plus malls in Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon and Oman.
Special collection boxes will be placed in key areas of the malls, encouraging shoppers to donate any of four essential items: clothing, books, reading glasses and mobile phones. Over the years, the Make a Difference this Ramadan drive has also welcomed other items such as non-perishable food items, gently used electronics, toys for children and even wheelchairs. In the UAE, Majid Al Futtaim has partnered with the Red Crescent to ensure the timely and appropriate distribution of all donated goods through their humanitarian network.
“Ramadan is a time to embrace the ideals of giving and charity, and I am pleased to lend my support in driving forward Majid Al Futtaim’s Make a Difference this Ramadan charity campaign this year,” said Fayez Al Saeed. “This is a meaningful campaign that has benefitted many families in the UAE, and through our collective efforts I hope we can encourage even greater numbers of residents, of all ages and backgrounds, to give back to the community,” he added.

The Make a Difference this Ramadan charity campaign underscores Majid Al Futtaim’s commitment to giving back to the community. Last year, more than 30,000 bags were collected and distributed to underprivileged families through the Red Crescent UAE.
