The 2014 edition of the Middle East Event Show, the region’s leading showcase for the event industry, is taking full advantage of the burgeoning events sector and has seen up to 70% of the participants this year take part for the first time.
Not only do new participants play a vital part of this year’s show, there will be a number of new innovations and event concept launches taking place throughout the two days.
3D technologies are set to be a trend throughout the show this year, and a company at the fore-front of this is Dubai based Precise. They will be offering a free on-site service called This Is Me, or otherwise known as TIM. Visitors are given a 360 degree scanning from head-to-toe, in full color, which the software then turns in to graphic data within seconds. The data is then converted into a 3D print file to produce a small 3D lifelike figurine, showing exactly how the visitor looked when scanned.
Also on showcase this year will be the world’s first 3D printing pen – the 3Doodler, which allows the user to create 3D objects freehand.
Lothar Hohmann, Managing Director of Precise commented on the growth of 3D technology in the region, “3D printing is all about content, and the growth of the technology I think will be driven by this. We have been trying to integrate new and innovative ways to utilize the technology when doing brand activation events for global consumer brands. A trend we are also noticing is globally known brands are using concepts, where 3D printing plays an intricate part of the whole product launch.”
Staying on the topic of 3D technology, Protec will be demoing a real-time 3D stage simulator. It allows them to design, communicate, sequence and playback shows in a 3D virtual world, which is presented to a client and signed off before the actual build-up.
“We strongly feel that these latest investments will give our clients more opportunities to ensure their creativity is supported by our technology and take their events to the next level up,” said Stephen Lakin, CEO of Protec.
Event technology specialists Neumann & Müller, who were responsible for the lighting, video and all communications set-up of Nu Skin’s Top Performers Gala Dinners, the largest meeting and incentives group the region has ever received have seen a rise in enquiries for video and 3D mapping.
“Working together in the course of a production is absolutely essential, when event managers, sound and lighting designers all sit at the same table during the conception phase of a project, creative ideas and ways of making them reality can be coordinated with a minimum difficulty and create a WOW impactful event,” commented Rick Wade, General Manager, Neumann & Mueller Middle East.
This year the Middle East Event Show will be taking place at the JW Marriott Marquis, and will run from the 20 – 21 of May, with the 7th annual Middle East EVENT Awards taking place on the evening of the 21st.
