The Nawras Goodwill volunteers have reached Sohar, the midway point of the first leg of this year’s 10th Nawras Goodwill Journey. The journey is being followed by many on the Nawras social media sites and their website, where there is live streaming of their progress by GPS.

The volunteers visited the Al Noor Association for the Blind, delivering much-needed electronic items for the Association’s daily functions. In addition, they also brought household items including washing machines, water coolers, air conditioning units and freezers that will improve the facilities and support the services provided by volunteers.

Before reaching Sohar, the convoy stopped in Seeb and Mussanah as part of their route. At the Omani Women’s Association in Seeb, Nawras family members donated and installed laptops to help with much needed resources to keep communities connected and to help them fulfil their educational potential. They also provided much-needed professional sewing machines and spent time with local families before saying goodbye and continuing on with their voyage.

Continuing their mission of giving under the theme of ‘digital and family’, the volunteers equipped the Mussanah Disabled Association with a projector, television, digital camera, laptops, microwaves, freezers and air conditioning units. The items will support the association’s programmes and improve the daily lives of people, allowing them to lead a more fulfilling life and interact with other members of society.

This year’s journey has already travelled over 200 kilometres as the group of 18 volunteers give their time and effort to help community projects during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The next stop will be Khasab in the northern-most Governorate of the Sultanate, before returning to Muscat through Buraimi, Ibri and Ad Dakhiliyah.

For the past ten years, teams of fasting Nawras family members have spread smiles across the Sultanate in support of social development projects. This year, the Nawras website will provide up to the minute updates on the convoy’s progress at and daily updates from the Nawras Goodwill Journey 10 will be available through official Nawras social media platforms.

Video diaries will be uploaded to the Nawras YouTube Channel,, and images will be posted during the journey on Facebook at Nawras Goodwill Journey Messengers will also be tweeting live on location at with the dedicated hashtag of #RamadanJourney throughout the journey.
