Fujifilm, represented in Oman by Photocentre, is delighted to announce the launch of the X-T1, the latest addition to the award-winning X-Series Camera range, for professionals and the ‘Smartlab’ Frontier-S, a compact and high quality Inkjet printer, which enables photo retailers to have a system corresponding to their printing services, installation space and budget.
Commenting on the two new launches, Mohammed Farei, Managing Director of Photocentre, “Both these products showcase the best of what Fujifilm can offer, albeit in two completely different categories within the market. They stand as a testament to the versatility and quality of Fujifilm products in the photography sector.”
As a premium interchangeable lens camera from Fujifilm, the X-T1 features evolved SLR-style handling, mechanical dials and weather-resistance (when paired with a weather resistant X mount lens), together with all the benefits of an X-Series camera, such as compact size, excellent mobility and high-speed performance. Additionally, the camera’s newly developed electronic viewfinder is almost indistinguishable from an optical viewfinder thanks to an ultra-fast display speed.
Combining a unique wide-angle view, along with the world’s highest magnification (0.77x) for a digital camera, the X-T1’s electronic viewfinder provides a truly immersive shooting experience. But it’s the viewfinder’s display speed that really sets it apart; with a lag-time of just 0.005sec – that’s one tenth the speed of conventional digital cameras. This is perfectly complemented by its 2.36m dot resolution OLED display producing a crisply detailed view of whatever you’re shooting. In addition, the viewfinder’s newly designed Graphic User Interface provides a fresh shooting experience with clear details and a comfortable at-a-glance view of your settings.
“The perfect view needs autofocus to match and with its EXR Processor II and X-Trans CMOS II sensor, the X-T1 delivers. The new X-Trans sensor has phase detection AF built in so a world-beating response of just 0.08 seconds is achieved and the EXR Processor II allows for a fast 0.5 second start-up time, 0.05 second shutter time lag and a 0.5 second shooting interval. It also allows up to 8 frames per second with tracking AF and is the first-ever model to be compatible with SDXC UHS-II format memory cards, so the data writing speed in continuous mode increases to about twice that of a conventional card,” added Mohammed Farei.
As good as it looks and handles, the X-T1 is also tough enough to take on almost any shooting assignment. Thanks to approximately 80 points of weather sealing, the camera body is dust-resistant and water-resistant, giving it plenty of protection from dirt and moisture. This enables full-fledged field photography without worrying about the weather or the season and the LCD features tempered glass for additional outdoor protection. Fujifilm is also launching three weather-resistant zoom lenses to complement the X-T1 camera, these will all be available during 2014, with the XF18-135mm launching in June. The three lenses are the XF18-135mmF3.5-5.6 R OIS WR, XF16-55mmF2.8 R OIS WR and the XF50-140mmF2.8 R OIS WR.
Meanwhile, representatives from Photocentre also unveiled the “Smartlab” Frontier-S photo printer. Aimed at the commercial side of the photography spectrum, the Frontier-S is a perfect blend of quality, compact design and inkjet printing for commercial use. The name of “Frontier-S” is a combination of “Frontier” which expresses high quality print of Fujifilm, and the new product concept “S” which stands for “Small” installation space, “Scalable” meaning flexible configuration of multiple printers, and “Smart” business.
“Smartlab” Frontier-S can offer minilab system, self-print system and event photo system with combination of maximum 4 printers depending on customers need. The Frontier-S enables high quality print with the combination of exclusive inkjet paper, newly developed six ink system “ViViDiA D-Photo” which contains Fujifilm’s unique ozone and light resistant dye and unique image processing technology “Image Intelligence” in its compact body of only 0.2m2 foot print. It also realizes print speed of 360 prints per hour (4″ × 6″ print, standard mode) and also supports the two types of color reproduction, which are “Natural color reproduction” and “Vivid color reproduction” mode.
The Natural color reproduction mode supports the same color reproduction as silver halide prints while Vivid color reproduction mode is suitable to emphasize color tones with higher saturation.
Variable print size from 127 mm × 89 mm to maximum 210 mm × 1,000 mm and two types of paper surface of glossy and luster enable customers to offer various print services using just one compact, cost effective machine.
