Stormtroopers (who can Tweet), flying drones, a rock band, 3D printers, 3D glasses, an eccentric main stage set-up, and loads of fun stuff kept everyone who attended the conference entertained. From the morning hours, the HUB Lounge was filled with aspiring entrepreneurs and lurking VCs, the video room was hosting creativity workshops, all this while the main stage was gearing up for panels, demos, and talks on Wearable Technology, Sharing Economy and the Internet of Things.
Dubai’s Arts District, Alserkal Avenue, was filled with street food from Mexico, Pakistan, the UAE, and Lebanon; and to top it all off, you could grab your dessert from an ice cream truck parked inside one of the warehouses. As the afternoon progressed, the riveting vibe only got better as the main stage featured ever more engaging talks and panels which culminated in a staggering live demo by Sulaiman Itani, the founder of San Francisco based Atheer Labs, who pointed, clicked, and scrolled his virtual desktop into the air while wearing his futuristic Atheer One glasses.
With over 700 attendees, speakers from the best the region has to offer, and a refreshingly dynamic crowd, STEP Conference promises to keep disrupting on a larger scale year after year. If you had to spare a day out of your busy year for fun interactive experiences, inspirational insights and workshops, and plenty of networking, April 30th at Alserkal Avenue, was certainly the place to be. Wait for the post-event videos and photos to see for yourself, and definitely, mark your calendars for next year from now, as the rumors are, next year it’s going to be bigger and better!
