Moti Roti, a new healthy street food concept, opens its third mobile pop-up food station in Dubai on Sheikh Zayed Road, offering an alternative meal to fast food options.
With innovative, healthy and light interpretations of tasty, food inspired by the Pakistani cuisine, Moti Roti gives curry a facelift by taking out the excess oil and spices, and turning it into a western-style fast food, using the Roti as wraps, with fresh salads and chutneys as toppings. Fillings vary daily, ranging from; Zucchini, Chicken Spinach, Eggplant, Okra and Kofta.
“A chicken Roti is roughly 300 calories and many of our fillings contain a variety of vegetables, providing pure vegan options. We go easy on the spices as we want you to taste the freshly crushed coriander, seeds, cumin etc. which are normally overpowered by chillies in traditional restaurants,” says Tahir Shar, Founder of Moti Roti.
The healthy concept extends to all the menu items including; Carb-bored Box – salad box, Rice Box -brown rice pilau, Skinny Lassi – low-fat smoothies, and Karak Chai. Everything is freshly hand-cooked daily, by using healthy ingredients like whole wheat and Canola oil. “I grew up in a household rooted in a rich food culture where roti was shared at the table every night. After experiencing the lack of healthy options in Dubai, I decided it was high time the face of the South Asian cuisine changed,” says Tahir.
Also participating in the Ripe Foodie Market at Safa Park every Friday, Moti Roti is actively involved in the Dubai food scene and hopes to be part of the change towards a healthy community.
