Aspire Zone has demonstrated once again that it is the perfect location for elite athletes wishing to take advantage of Qatar’s year-round sun, by hosting three separate training camps last week for top teams including FC Bayern Munich and FC Schalke 04.
The football giants took advantage of Aspire Zone’s comprehensive state-of-the-art facilities, as well as Qatar’s moderate climate, to prepare for the second half of the Bundesliga season, which is set to resume on January 24th following the winter break.
Spanish legend Josep “Pep” Guardiola, current Bayern Munich manager and former FC Barcelona player and manager, was clearly impressed by his surroundings. “It’s just extraordinary. Great accommodation, great facilities, and great weather,” he said. “Aspire really is the perfect place for a training camp.”
Jefferson Farfán, star of Schalke 04 and the national Peruvian football team agreed, saying, “I am really impressed with facilities and equipment. Everything is just right here for an ideal training camp.”
Great Britain’s archery team also trained at Aspire Zone last week. During a ten-day camp, the athletes underwent intensive strength and conditioning training. Head coach Lloyd Brown explained why the team had chosen Aspire Zone. “We wanted to shoot outside and simulate a competition environment in decent weather, which you can’t do in England at the moment,” he said. “The facilities are fantastic. Shooting out here we have the perfect archery field. We also have the option to use the big, indoor pitch when there is a lot of wind.”
Three time Olympic competitor Naomi Folkard added, “The training camp has gone really well. The facilities are great, there is everything we could possibly need, and we are staying in The Torch-Doha Hotel, which is wonderful.”
As the world’s most comprehensive campus for training camps, Aspire Zone is a leading destination for top-tier athletes and sports clubs. As well as its high-quality, outdoor grass pitches, Aspire Zone Foundation aims to nurture elite sporting talent by providing a year-round indoor climate-controlled training facility. Over the past few years, other visiting teams have included Manchester United FC, Paris Saint-Germain’s football and handball teams, and the French national swimming team.
