One of the region’s most inspiring youth football tournaments came to an exhilarating conclusion when Volkswagen Middle East crowned Al Jazira Club soccer team from Dubai as the regional winner of the Volkswagen 2014 Junior Masters Middle East Championship. The reigning champions beat Al Jazeera team from Oman, and will now represent the Middle East to compete against their international counterparts in the Volkswagen World Masters in Rome from 7th to 12th May, 2014.
The Middle East finals of one of the largest and most popular, international youth football tournaments took place on Saturday, 19th April, at the Dubai Sports City Rugby Park, where the ten qualifying teams from Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and United Arab Emirates, battled for the championship title and the opportunity to represent the region at the World Masters.
Commenting on this year’s championship, Thomas Milz, Managing Director, Volkswagen Middle East, said, “Volkswagen is an on-going supporter of youth development through a range of grassroots initiatives. We work closely with the community to support their interests and needs at a local level, be it through our ‘Think Blue’ eco-friendly initiatives or by supporting and encouraging creativity in the youth through our music initiative. The Volkswagen Junior Masters aims to inspire the region’s youth through football by uniting budding players from around the Middle East.” “This year, the Volkswagen Junior Masters has yet again witnessed exceptional talent who continue to raise the bar of this special tournament each year and we congratulate the winning team, Al Jazira Club for an outstanding performance,” he concluded.
