Q-Auto, the official distributor of Volkswagen in Qatar recently hosted the 4th Volkswagen Junior Masters Football Tournament.
The event which took place on April 5 is one of the largest youth football tournaments worldwide for boys aged 10 -12 years old. The participating teams were: Newton Lagoon School, F & S Brazil, Pro Inter Soccer, German School, Doha British School, Compass International School and EVO Soccer.
Throughout the day, the seven local teams competed in a series of round-robin knockout matches. Team EVO Soccer exhibited top quality skills which led them to the champion title, while Compass International School was first runner-up. Both the champions and runner-up teams were granted the opportunity to travel to Dubai to participate in the regional finals at the end of the month.
Commenting on the tournament, Kevin Hughes, General Manager, Q-Auto, said, “Hosting the Volkswagen Junior Masters in Qatar falls in line with Q-Auto’s ongoing effort to encourage and support the local community as well as active lifestyle and sports. Sport is a particularly important pillar in Qatari society and is very much part of Qatar’s National Vision 2030 and we at Q-Auto are committed to supporting its development.”
The tournament concluded with Mohamed Ali, Volkswagen Qatar’s Service Manager, thanking all the teams for their outstanding performance and sportsmanship. “It is my pleasure to be with you today to witness some amazing football skills. Clearly every team showcased harmony with strong front lines, strong back lines, strong wings and brilliant goal keepers,” said Mohamed. “This takes me back to our company “Q-Auto – Volkswagen” which is exactly like your football teams. Our back lines are the aftersales department, our front lines are the sales department and our wings are the satisfaction of our customers,” Mohamed added.
An award ceremony took place thereafter and the champions were awarded their trophy and runner-ups their medals.
