A CSR Committee delegation from wasl Asset Management paid a visit to four special needs centres in Dubai to present them with donations and certificates of appreciation for participating in the company’s National Day celebrations that took place last December. This comes as part of wasl Asset Management’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy and its philosophy of giving back to the community.
The presentations followed the company’s UAE National Day charity initiative which saw sales revenues reaching Dhs50,000 from handcrafts and other home-made items created and sold by wasl employees during the event.
All proceeds were donated to the four special needs and rehabilitation centres that took part in the initiative. These were the Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre, Dubai Centre for Special Needs, Al Noor Centre for Children with Special Needs and Sheikha Maitha Bint Rashid Centre for Special Needs in Hatta.
The National Day celebrations initiative was held in a tent adjacent to its Mankhool headquarters. Each wasl department was allocated a dedicated area and a budget to decorate their stands, which were used to sell the handcrafts. wasl was able to collect further donations amounting to Dhs150,000 during the National Day celebrations, with this sum being donated towards the building of a mosque. The mosque will be located in Al Muhaisna area and is expected to be completed by 2016.
Maha Ahli, Senior Manager Tenant Management and Support Property Management, wasl, said, “Our visit is part of wasl’s commitment to supporting these centres and helping them to provide their services to an important section of society, one that is very dear to our hearts. We would like to express our sincere appreciation of the centres’ tremendous efforts and their dedication in cooperating with local national companies to enhance community work in Dubai.”
“I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to wasl for inviting the children of Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre to participate in its National Day celebrations, providing them with the opportunity to express and demonstrate their creativity by showcasing their handcrafts and products at the event,” said Mariam Othman, General Manager of Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre.
“We are grateful to wasl for giving us the opportunity of participating in the National Day celebrations and charity initiative that took place in December. As always, our students were delighted to have the opportunity to showcase their handmade items to the public. We are very happy to cooperate with wasl and we look forward to continuing to work with them on future projects,” said Dr. Mahshid Saleh, General Manager of Dubai Centre for Special Needs.
wasl management has played an important role in motivating its employees to participate in community work on the most important national occasion. During the celebration, we have seen strong competition between wasl employees to raise funds to donate to these centres which they will then use to enhance their therapy and rehabilitation programmes on offer for the children,” Maha added.
