Averda, the largest waste management company, and one of the fastest growing companies in the Middle East & Africa region signed on Sunday with the Electronics Jordan Trading Company (EJTC) the Cleaning Services contract with Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA).
UAE based averda and its joint venture partner EJTC won the tender to collect domestic solid waste and provide street cleaning in the Red Sea city of Aqaba and four neighbouring towns, Rum, Mezfer, Rahmah and Qatar.
MohammadAli Hodeib, Chief Operating Officer for the Levant and Africa region, said: “We are delighted to launch our first project in Jordan. We will create in excess of 300 jobs and raise the level of cleanliness in the historic city of Aqaba for residents, tourists, and businesses to enjoy. We will also conduct environment awareness campaigns and introduce innovative recycling solutions. We are working with ASEZA to make this, in time, an exemplary project in the Kingdom of Jordan.”
averda launched its operations on the 1st of November 2014 with a newly recruited work force that started dealing with accumulations of waste in some areas. averda cleaners will gradually make more streets more clean over time. In due course the streets of Aqaba will be brought to averda standards of service quality.
