Shifting to a greener environment has become fundamental for each company’s sustainability, efficient management and development. With that in mind, Boecker, the leading provider of Food Safety, Pest Control and Biosecurity solutions in the Middle East, was invited to participate in the annual Lebanon Opportunities Conference.
Taking place at Phoenicia Hotel, Beirut on two consecutive days, February 19-20, 2014, this year’s conference “Economic sustainability during crisis” gathered businesses and professionals from the economy, real estate, finance, branding, e-marketing, and green business sectors.
Representing Boecker was the Country manager, Bana Kalash Kobrosly, as a guest speaker to talk about Boecker’s Carbon Management System as a successful case study on the second day of the conference.
In her presentation, Mrs. Kobrosly said “Boecker, through the help of professional environment advisors, got committed to develop and implement a Carbon Management Strategy. This was done based on The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) standard which provides companies with a guideline to develop their full and complete, consistent, transparent and cost efficient inventory of Carbon consumption. Through gathering needed data about our carbon generating assets, we calculated the CO2 consumption in order to build an effective strategy leading to the reduction of GHG emissions and to a better environment”.
Boecker has taken the initiative to conduct the Greenhouse Gas Auditing Project, which involves the utilization of V4 Advisors’ Corporate Greenhouse Gas calculator; a certified tool by the World Resources Institute and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. This tool focuses on auditing the GHG footprint from Boecker’s day-to-day business activities involving the combustion of fuel and electricity as well as use of paper. The boundaries of Boecker’s carbon footprint audit includes fuel use for heating and power generation to offset Electricité Du Liban’s (EDL) shortfall, fuel use for ground transport, fuel use for air travel, consumption of paper products and use of refrigerant gases.
The Carbon Management Strategy enforces Boecker to focus on two directions that include Corporate Social Responsibility and the overall environmental status.
As stated in the overall vision, Boecker aims to provide the latest and safest sustainable solutions for health, clean and “Green” environment and will continue to venture in new initiatives with the hope of continuously offering advanced and state-of-the-art solutions.
