The MEED Quality Awards for Projects, in association with Mashreq, has concluded the judging process and will announce the winners of its annual awards programme on 12 May. The awards programme recognises completed projects throughout the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) region.
Following the announcement of the national winners in Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the judging panel evaluated the entries and selected the regional winners in various categories. These awards categories include: HLG Oil & Gas Project of the Year, Industrial Project of the Year, Power Project of the Year, Water and Water Reuse Project of the Year, Leisure and Tourism Project of the Year, CH2M HILL Transport Project & Road of the Year, Social Project of the Year, Louis Berger Building Project of the Year, Sustainable Project of the Year and Award for Innovation.
“The fourth edition of the MEED Quality Awards for Projects, in association with Mashreq, has firmly established itself as the premier recognition programme in the projects sector, putting the spotlight on projects that were not only completed according to stringent global quality standards; but have also invariably made significant contributions to the socio-economic development of the region,” said Edmund O’ Sullivan, Chairman, MEED Events, organisers of the annual awards programme.
The judging panel included senior representatives from the Society of Engineers UAE, Qatar Society of Engineers, Oman Society of Engineers, Kuwait Society of Engineers, Bahrain Society of Engineers and the Saudi Council of Engineers. Unique for being the only independently judged programme of its kind to recognise completed projects in the GCC, the MEED Quality Awards for Projects, in association with Mashreq, will announce the winners at ceremonies to be held on 12 May at the Sofitel Dubai, The Palm Resort & Spa in Dubai, UAE. It will be attended by some of the biggest project owners, developers and contractors from around the region. Richard Dean, one of Dubai’s most experienced business journalists will host the awards ceremony.
Richard Beard, CH2M HILL’s Regional Market Manager for Transportation, said, “In 1978, our founder and former CH2M HILL President James Howland wrote a collection of management quotations to capture many of the values upon which our firm was built. A key teaching from this states that “the quality of our services is of paramount importance.” This why we are proud to be associated with this year’s MEED Quality Awards and recognising excellence by aligning our name with this year’s Transport & Road Project of the Year Award.”
“It is an honour for HLG to be part of a programme that recognises completed projects in the region. As one of the leading contractors in the Middle East, we share the awards’ vision of raising the bar for quality in projects, as this has a significant impact on the development of the region as a whole,” said Jose Antonio Lopez-Monis, CEO and Managing Director, HLG, this year’s category sponsor for the Oil & Gas Project of the Year.
“The magnitude of projects from across the GCC, along with the high level of quality of projects submitted, is a healthy sign that the projects industry has recovered and is developing steadily throughout the region. We are delighted to be a part of the awards programme. As category sponsors for Building Project of the Year, we recognise excellence in project conceptualisation and execution, a shared value that we hold in the highest esteem,” said Paul Stevens, Louis Berger’s director of strategy and business development for the Middle East and North Africa region. Louis Berger is an internationally recognized consulting firm that provides engineering, architecture, program and construction management, environmental planning and science, and economic development services.
This year’s category sponsors include Louis Berger for Building Project of the Year, HLG for Oil and Gas Project of the Year and CH2M HILL for Transport & Road Project of the Year. L&T Oman are sponsoring the networking reception.
