Silatech supports Egyptian competitiveness initiatives

As part of its support for the Egyptian economy and Egyptian youth, Silatech has sponsored The Egyptian Competitiveness Report 2013, as well as the ninth annual conference of the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council (ENCC), held in Cairo in late February.

Titled “Towards Sustainable Competitiveness: Restructuring Institutions in Egypt,” The Egyptian Competitiveness Report 2013 is an annual publication produced by the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council. The 2013 report focuses on topics such as optimizing labor markets, public spending levels, social dialogue and democratic transition, revitalizing the tourism sector, and restructuring institutions.

Over 500 representatives from the private sector, civil society, academia, government and media attended the conference. Dignitaries attending included HE Ambassador Amr Moussa, Former Secretary General of the League of Arab States, HE Dr. Ashraf El-Araby, Former Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, HE Mr. Osama Saleh, Former Minister of Investment, Dr. Ahmed Darwish, Former Minister of State for Administrative Development, and others.

Dr. Nader Kabbani, Director of Research and Policy at Silatech, participated in the closing session of the conference, which addressed the importance of reforming labor market institutions as a prerequisite for effective social dialogue.

Based in Qatar, Silatech is a regional social initiative that works to improve employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people throughout the Arab world. The Egyptian National Competitiveness Council (ENCC) is an independent non-governmental organization made up of members of the business community and academia that aim to improve the lives of Egyptians by increasing economic competitiveness.
