Tamkeen’s Mashroo3i Youth Business Plan competition culminated in a grand finale with a public exhibition of the participants’ business prototypes and award ceremony which took place at Bahrain City Centre on Saturday 19th April 2014.
Tamkeen’s Mashroo3i Youth Business Awards engaged young Bahrainis in a business plan development and prototyping competition. Over a period of three months, where contestants received training from mentors and experts in various fields, and got inspired to consider entrepreneurship as an option for their future career.
On April 17th, the Exhibition at Bahrain City Centre was inaugurated and opened to the public. Each team was provided with an exhibition booth to display their business prototype, attracting mall visitors and explaining their ideas to them.
During the two days of the Exhibition, Mashroo3i judges rated the individual team stalls based on the quality of the business idea in terms of innovation and uniqueness, as well as on the strength of project management, and the clarity and persuasiveness of the business outlet. The public was also encouraged to visit these stalls and rate the teams.
Finally, on April 19th, Mashroo3i competition winners were announced in a grand Award Ceremony that was attended by the participants, families, mentors, judges, media, officials as well as the public. First place winner this year was Price Killer team represented by Ali Khalil Ebrahim and Ahmed Ali Taher, while the 2nd prize went to Smart Home team represented by Mahmood Mohammed Hammad, Salman Yousif Nass and Hussain Abdullatif Hussain, and the 3rd place was to B’Sporty team represented by Maryam Al Shaeel, Fida Budrees and Alia Alaweyat.
In addition to the top 3 highest scoring teams, prizes were awarded to the teams scoring the highest points in 7 individual categories. These are: Best Business Plan, Best Business Model Innovation, Best Product/Service Innovation, Best Marketing, Sales and Promotion, Best Product/Service Design, Most Responsible Business and Most Charismatic Entrepreneur.
The names of the winning teams are posted on www.mashroo3i.bh. Details of each of the teams’ business plans and prototypes are also available online. The public is invited to congratulate the winners and post their thoughts and comments on www.facebook.com/tamkeenbahrain.
