Conyers Dill & Pearman has announced the appointment of Dennis Ryan as head of corporate services in its Dubai office, effective 1 July 2014. He will hold this position in addition to his role as counsel.
“We are delighted for Dennis to further develop our corporate services business in addition to providing legal services to our swiftly growing portfolio of client companies incorporated in the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, Bermuda and the DIFC,” said Kerri Lefebvre, Head of Conyers Dill & Pearman’s Dubai office.
An experienced corporate lawyer, Dennis joined Conyers’ Cayman office in 2007 and transferred to the Firm’s Dubai office in 2009. His practice involves all aspects of corporate and commercial law, with particular emphasis on conventional and Islamic banking and finance and related security and restructuring matters. Dennis also has extensive experience with respect to mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and private equity matters. and as a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), Dennis regularly advises family office and high net worth individual clients on offshore corporate and trust structures including the formation of private trust companies.
In his role as head of corporate services in Dubai, Dennis will oversee the operations of Conyers’ affiliate Codan International Limited, which works with Conyers’ network to provide a range of corporate services to MENA and international clients, including the incorporation of companies in Bermuda the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Mauritius and the DIFC.
“Codan’s operations in Dubai allow our MENA clients to have timely and cost sensitive local service on a day to day basis, as for most administrative matters they can deal with us in Dubai rather than with a service provider in the BVI, Cayman Islands or Bermuda. For Mauritius companies, we work with our Mauritius office (which is in the same time zone as Dubai) to provide all relevant services. For DIFC companies, Codan provides corporate secretarial services to assist these companies with their corporate governance requirements,” Dennis Ryan explained, and went to say: “This is an exciting time for our Dubai office as we continue to grow and invest in the DIFC. I look forward to developing the corporate services business as we continue to build on our successful legal services practice.”
