DLA Piper, the global law firm, has advised DAS Real Estate in a deal with hotel operator Langham Hospitality Group which will see the development of the brand’s first Middle East property. DAS Real Estate will develop and manage the 323-room Langham resort on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah, set to launch in 2015.
Catering to couples and large families, the resort will have 53 one and two-bedroom suites that range from 63 to 236 square metres, 22 of which will feature individual plunge pools. The luxury resort will also comprise one of the region’s largest hotel recreation facilities, covering almost 4,000 square metres.
“This is a significant deal and one that we’re delighted to have advised Das Real Estate on, particularly since it is The Langham Group’s first venture in the Middle East region,” commented Tom O’Grady, Head of DLA Pipers Real Estate Practice in the Middle East. He continued, “The sector is currently experiencing renewed growth and diversification in the UAE and the wider GCC, with piquing demand as well as favourable conditions for both developers and operators looking to establish a presence or to further expand.”
DAS Real Estate added, “We are extremely pleased to be the first developer in the Middle East region to be launching The Langham, Palm Jumeirah. It is a very strong brand internationally with impeccable service values which we are certain will be well received by the discerning traveller in Dubai. DLA Piper provided commercially intuitive, first-rate advice throughout the lifespan of the transaction, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by the sector both in the Middle East, and globally.”
DLA Piper has a strong presence across the Middle East region, with offices in all six GCC countries as well as a group firm in Egypt.
