A Forum on Spain Real Estate Investment was hosted in Dubai on 28 January 2014 by M/Advocates of Law (in association with Ali Ibrahim Advocates).
The oversubscribed Forum was attended by a mix of individual investors, real estate agencies, legal consultants and leading banking institutions interested in the real estate market in Spain as a consequence of the recently published ‘Entrepreneurial Law’ enabling non-EU citizens to obtain facilitated tax residency in Spain and the offer of distress properties as a result of the international financial boom.
A high caliber of presenters offered their insights. Welcome remarks were made by Maria L. Rubert, Partner of M/Advocates of Law and Board Member of the Spanish Business Council in the UAE. Mr. Nuño Bordallo, Deputy Head of Mission and Consul, Embassy of Spain in the UAE explained the new regulations and gave details on the practicalities of the Spanish resident visa processing,” said Rubert:
“The new regulations make Spain a very attractive jurisdiction for foreign investment. The fast track residency by real estate investment is proving a big hit among entrepreneurs from emerging markets wishing to travel visa free to and within the Schengen space, and the Firm is already busy processing numerous such applications.”
The informative section of the seminar was followed by the commercial exposure of investment opportunities in Madrid and Marbella, by Felix de Diego de Gregorio, General Manager of Grupo de Empresas Occidental Inmobiliaria and in Barcelona and Ibiza by Anna Garcia Carbonell and Pilar San Miguel, Managing Partners of Step (In).
