AAW continues support of Human Rights Watch efforts in Kuwait and Middle East
Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa Commercial Co. (AAW) announced the continuation of its long-standing commitment to support the global organization, Human Rights Watch, to achieve greater humanitarian advances in Kuwait and the Middle East, after a visit from delegates of the organization to Chairman and Managing Director Mr. Faisal Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa.
AAW Chairman and Managing Director, Faisal Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa, received the organization’s 2014 plans and activities for Kuwait and the Middle East from Nadim Houry, Deputy Director in the MENA region; Lama Sioufi, Associate Director of Development and Outreach in the MENA region; Belkis Wille, Yemen and Kuwait Researcher; and Maryam Al Qatami, Kuwait Development and Outreach Consultant.
Human Rights Watch is one of the world’s leading independent organizations dedicated to defending and protecting human rights. The organization is a fully independent, non-governmental organization supported solely by contributions from private individuals, companies and foundations worldwide.
Last year, Human Rights Watch was able to achieve important advances in promoting human rights in Syria, Yemen and Iraq through AAW’s contribution.
Faisal Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa said: “We have supported Human Rights Watch’s efforts for many years, and we have seen over time how their missions have generated tangible humanitarian advances across the region. We believe in human rights as a natural, fundamental and universal right to which every person is entitled, and we believe by achieving these rights, we will be able to see real growth and development in our region.
Human Rights Watch Deputy Director in the MENA region, Nadim Houry, said: “Building relationships with local authorities is essential in ensuring cooperation throughout our different missions, but without the support of the private sector, we wouldn’t be able to initiate or create these missions. We thank Faisal Al Mutawa and AAW for their support over the years and look forward to witnessing more advances in the protection of human rights this year.”
AAW has an on-going commitment towards corporate social responsibility in more than half a dozen fields. In the last 10 years, AAW has contributed yearly to NGOs, like Hayatt Breast Cancer Foundation and the Women’s Social and Cultural Society, for causes like breast cancer awareness, helping children with terminal illnesses and aid to Syrian and Egyptian families.
