Bahrain Polytechnic to launch Events Management major
The Bahrain Polytechnic Business School will soon launch an Events Management major as part of its Bachelor of Business degree. An external validation panel of experts was invited from 4th-5th June to evaluate the suitability of the new programme in terms of content, quality and relevance to industry based on international standards to ensure that the curricula meets the needs of the labor market.
The panel includes experts from reputable European universities which will meet with the Events management major development team from the Polytechnic and the Curriculum Advisory Group.
The Curriculum Advisory Group played a crucial role in the development process, to ensure that the new major is suitable for the needs of the local market and consistent with the international industry standards. The committee members are highly ranked representatives from organizations and companies such as the Ministry of Culture, the Ritz Carlton hotel, BECA, Sportique88 and the Origin Group.
With an aim to meet Bahrain’s 2030 Vision, the Polytechnic is constantly striving to offer new qualifications to its students according to Dr. Mohamed Al-Aseeri, Acting CEO.
“Events Management is of high demand in Bahrain. Using our problem-based approach, we intend to build a unique programme where the students will get hands-on experience and be ready for the corporate world,” stated the Acting CEO.
Programme validation is a quality assurance process which ensures that programmes provide learners with opportunities to reach the knowledge, skills and competence set out in awards specifications, therefore meeting appropriate awards standards.
“Our panel consists of experts with a great academic background, from Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK and HAAGA-HELIA University in Finland. The panel also includes a Bahraini industry expert, the managing director from Finmark Communications. Together, collaborating with our Polytechnic team, I’m sure they can develop a brilliant Events Management curriculum,” concluded Dr. Al-Aseeri.
The panel concluded, “The development process and the curriculum were outstanding; they also agreed that the new major exceeded their expectations in terms of content, quality and understanding of the local and regional industry.”
Dr. Al-Aseeri thanked the panel and staff members for meeting and creating the collaboration, which is indeed a step forward to ensure Bahrain Polytechnic provides world-class education through vocational education.
