GAIF: A place to share ideas and do business
By: Hossam Abougabal, Sharm El Sheikh
The GAIF conference resumes in Sharm El Sheikh. In its third day delegates and guests continue to discuss the hottest topics facing the region.
Topics range from software solutions and big data, to reinsurance capacity and the protection of large risk.
Celebrating 50 years, GAIF has become renowned for the bringing together of insurers and reinsurers. The GAIF conference continues to add unmatchable value to the industry. And walking around it is clear by the number of pre-arranged meetings that this is not only a place to share best practices, but also a place to do business.
AMEinfo’s sister publication Policy sits with Nabil Hajjar, Senior Advisor to the management of Trust Re as he explains the importance of regional meets such as this one. “This conference serves as a great opportunity for the industry to come together. We share ideas and developments but more importantly it’s a great place to meet many different company’s under one roof.”
Hajjar also tells Policy that regional dialogue is particularly important considering the instabilities across the region. “Although the region does have the reinsurance capacity to deal with big and shared risks, the unfortunate events across the region means we must work together and support each other as an industry.”
Overall the event so far has been a great success in that it has allowed for some of the biggest, and smallest firms to interact in a very fruitful manner.
