HBL’s new trade portal sets industry benchmark
HBL has expanded its suite of services for corporate clients by launching a new innovative trade portal, which the bank believes is one of the most comprehensive of its kind in the UAE.
Pakistan’s largest bank, HBL, has branches in 25 countries around the globe and has been an integral component in the UAE’s banking landscape since 1967.Working closely with Misys, a market leader that provides the broadest portfolio of banking, treasury, trading and risk solutions available on the market, the new system will help customers quickly and easily manage global trading activities online by automating every aspect of their banking.
The HBL Trade Portal streamlines a number of previously time-consuming processes related to trade finance, such as issuance of guarantees, documentary credits/amendments, trust receipts and import collection documents. Completely electronic and paperless, it can also accommodate any number of users across a spectrum of key responsibilities, and is available to all corporate clients, irrespective of their size or level of turnover.
Because the system is web-based, it is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from anywhere in the world. The portal also enables a range of maturity and shipping dates, which can be programmed as necessary, by sending an alert ahead of time for upcoming deadlines.

In addition, the highly sophisticated system is easy to use and provides real-time communications – as soon as HBL authorises a transaction or another process, a notification is immediately sent to the customer.
“Users are also able toaccess their historical transaction details and, by using state-of-the-art reporting modules, design and generate a variety of reports according to their needs. Furthermore, every customer, who requests the service, receives hands-on training and has the system configuredto its exact requirements by our in-house IT team,” continued Majeed.
