The Main Committee to Coordinate and Integrate SME Activities hold its 17th meeting
The Main Committee to Coordinate & Integrate SME Activities held its 17th meeting in presence of representatives from Ministries and government and private institutions; Economic Development Board, Bahrain Development Bank, UNIDO, Tamkeen, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bahrain Businesswomen Society, Ebdaa Bank, Bahrain Businessmen’s Society, Bahrain small and medium enterprises society, Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning, Bahraini Young Entrepreneurs Association, Ministry of Health, and private sector representatives.
During the meeting, they discussed a number of issues related to small and medium enterprises sector and reviwed that latest development related to the previous meeting and the action taken by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and other relevant parties in order to streamline the workflow.
Then Mayasem Communications gave a visual presentation about the second version +973 project which supervised by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and financed from ‘Tamkeen’, has reviewed through it vision, mission and strategy implementation the project for the next three years.
This project comes within the framework aimed to provide the nest services for exhibitors of young creators and owners of pilot projects through organizing stands to embrace entrepreneurs, and exchange experiences and ideas of creative work. The second version comes after the success of the first version which started in 2011 and enjoyed by a wide range of interested parties and stakeholders and visitors. The second version takes place in Juffair. It is worth mentioning that +973 project is a sustainable exhibition for Bahraini products.
The meeting witnessed a visual presentation from Bahrain small and medium enterprises society and Bahrain Polytechnic on Entrepreneurship International questionnaire which covers 88 countries and is designed to measure the differences of commercial activity level between the countries in addition to disclosure the factors that lead to target levels of entrepreneurship which calls for policies that enhance the national level of commercial activity.
The meeting also discussed Ministry initiatives on the issuance of a special law for SMEs, where the issues of developing small and medium enterprises overlapping and located within several sectors and includes many government and private agencies in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Strategic initiatives are being implemented through set institutions that are located under the responsibility of different government institutions.
And to the Committee members expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the government and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of facilitating the procedures for small and medium enterprises and overcome all obstacles to their work and productivity, in addition to the support provided to them either directly or indirectly through institutions, technical support , and praised the initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and which fall within their strategies and orientations based mainly on the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 , which contributed significantly to raising the level of services provided to citizens and beneficiaries of these services in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
