The ICT Fund Forges a Strategic Partnership with “Tamaiz&FalakTayyeb” Award Sponsoring the Science, Technology and Inventions Category for this Year
The ICT Fund, an initiative by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), announced recently commencement of a strategic partnership with the”Tamaiz&FalakTayyeb” Award to sponsor the Science, Technology and Inventions category which recorded the highest number of nominations in the six edition of the Award this year.This partnership comes as a part of the ICT Fund’s continuous efforts in fostering scientific talent, building qualified national cadres, and highlighting the role of modern technology developments in improving individuals’ lives and advancing the society and the nation. The ICT Fund also aims atencouraging investment in innovative ideas that supportthe intellectual development of the UAE ICT sector and providing the necessary funding to grow the creative human capital and develop a sustainable knowledge society in the UAE.
The ICT Fund participates in “Tamaiz&FalakTayyeb” Award as a platinum sponsorfor the first time and will be a part of the judging process to select the winners of the science and technology, and inventions category along with the Award’s Board of Directors. This category in particular is a key priority for the ICT Fund which will provide financial and moral support for the winners. Through this participation, the ICT Fund seeksto examine the nominated projects closely and evaluate them in order to encourage and support inventions and innovative projects in the ICT sector and empower national talents by providing them with appropriate job opportunities.
The ICT Fund and “Tamaiz&FalakTayyeb” joint judging committee received a number of distinguished projects that scored the highest rating including: “Smart Bins”, “Energy Harvesting System”, “Robot Goalkeeper”, “Solar Thermal Energy Generator System using natural water resources, lakes and rivers”, “Microphone System to monitor audio conferencing”, “Cloud-based Arabic ReCAPTCHA project – A system to digitize Arabic manuscripts online”, and a”System to reuse hollow fiber bioreactor hepatocyte”. The committee has been announced the winning projects during the Award’s closing ceremony that was held at Zayed University – Dubai.
Commenting on the partnership, Omar Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Acting Chief Executive Officer of ICT Fund, said: “The ICT Fund gives a great priority for developing new partnerships and further cooperation with its partners who play a key role in the development of the UAEICT sector. This includes IT institutions or ICT sponsors such as the “Tamaiz&FalakTayyeb”Award which doesn’t spare an effort to promote the creativity and innovation and encourage positive competition among UAE nationals from the students in both the governmental and private universities and institutes, in addition to creating job opportunities that match their creativity and prepare them to meet the labor market demand.
