Mr. Ahmed praised the outgoing CEO’s contributions and accomplishments during the transition phase that the Company underwent as it took over the operations and development of the Bahrain International Airport from the Civil Aviation Affairs.
Mr. Ahmed also added that once the transition phase has been completed, Bahrain Airport Company will begin restructuring the organization to implement the next phase which will be finalizing the complete development and expansion plan of Bahrain International Airport.
This will see the Airport equipped with the latest technologies and systems offering the highest quality of service and operational efficiencies to strengthen its regional position as an aviation hub and increase its contribution to the economic development of the Kingdom.
Furthermore, Mr. Ahmed added that the Board is keen on pursuing its strategic plans to achieve the objectives set for Bahrain Airport Company to manage and operate Bahrain International Airport efficiently and competitively in line with international best practice. Bahrain Airport Company anticipates finalizing the development and expansion plan in the coming few months. The pre-qualification requirements for consultants to design and supervise the development of the new terminal have already been set, with evaluations and recommendations of the bidders nearly complete to begin the tender process.
Mr. Ahmed will take over the responsibilities of Dr. Alali temporarily until the appointment is made of a new CEO carrying international experience and achievement in managing and developing airports.
