With over 17 years in the hospitality industry – over a decade of which has been spent within the Kempinski fold – Bernabé is the perfect man to head Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates’ talented team. With an impressive career path that has taken Bernabé across the globe from his native Spain, to the USA, Switzerland, South Africa, France, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Russia, Turkey, Malta, Kuwait and Jordan, Bernabé is expected to be right at home in the UAE’s cosmopolitan living and working environment.
Bernabé comes to Dubai from Kempinski Hotel Aqaba, where as General Manager and part of the hotel’s pre-opening team, he played a key role in placing the seaside property firmly on the Jordanian hospitality map.
With multiple Bachelors’ degrees obtained in Spain and the USA, a Hotel Management degree from the Hotel Institute Montreux, Switzerland, and a Master of Business Administration from Reims Management School in France, Bernabé brings a formidable background in management to the table, along with years of practical, on-the-ground experience. Having started his career in the F&B arena, and with extensive exposure to both city hotel and resort properties, Bernabé possesses the ideal mix of skills required to successfully boost Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates’ already renowned reputation as a leisure and culinary destination in Dubai.
“Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates is a very unique property in a very unique city, and I am very confident that Alejandro, as an accomplished and passionate hotelier, will use his wealth of international experience to help grow the hotel’s already well-established reputation within the UAE’s hospitality sector,” says Ulrich Eckhardt, President Middle East and Africa for Kempinski Hotels.
Bernabé is fluent in Spanish and English, with an excellent grasp of French, allowing him the ability to converse with ease across continents and nationalities. He moves to Dubai with his wife and two children.
Bernabé replaces Holger Schroth as General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates. Schroth has moved on to his next assignment within the Kempinski Group – with his success at this landmark city hotel making him the ideal candidate to take on the role of General Manager at the recently soft-opened Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok.
